My Interview

  • What name do you go by besides Mom?
It's been so long I hardly remember!
What part of the world do you live in?
On the wet West Coast of BC
Since when have you been on this journey known as Motherhood?
How can eighteen years feel like only yesterday? Luckily I have another 8 years of active duty yet!
How many people depend on you?
Officially four, if you don't count the dog or my husband or co-workers or our extended family or friends
What do you know now that you didn't know before you were a mom?
Just about everything. I know for sure I'll never know anything for sure and I now know that's okay.
What is your idea of perfect happiness or your happy place?
Holding a newborn baby, sitting in the sun at the edge of the ocean, riding down-hill on a bicycle, the wind at my back, getting lost in the enchantment of Disneyland, and watching people blossom as they begin to realize they are so much more than they ever imagined themselves to be.
What is your biggest frustration or struggle?
    High expectations.
If you could invite three people to dinner who would you invite (don't worry, you don't have to cook!)?
Of the living I'd invite Cesar Milan, Mona Lisa Schulz, and Martha Beck. Of those already passed, I'd invite Walt Disney, Lucille Ball and my Great Grandmother. And if I could reach into the future, I'd invite my children as their adult selves.
List three things you like, list three things you dislike.
I love people at ease with themselves, the play of colour, and stargazer lillies and I despise violence and cruelty, beets and housekeeping
What do you really want that you don't have right now?
    A magic wand
