Things My Mother Told Me

My mother never said this one, but a good friend of mine's mother did. She said, "It's just as easy to fall in love with a rich man as a poor man!"
My mother said, "A moment on your lips, forever on your hips!" - she was talking about food, not men!

My Nanna used to say " A woman without lipstick is like a cake without icing" I loved that one it used to crack me up! God I miss that woman!

"What were you thinking?!" I used to be offended by that one and then I had kids and I heard it come out of my mouth, and then as I looked at their blank expressions, I understood the other thing my mother used to say, "Just you wait until you have kids! Maybe then you'll understand."

If you keep that up, you're gonna get it! - then my little sister would pipe up and say, 'Can I get it too?' - that used to make mom laugh and in the end no one ever got anything.

Only the hours of sleep before midnight count! and of course my other personal favorite nothing good ever happens after midnight!

If your Mom said that to you she either did not mean it or was trying to be cruel. Yes there are some Moms out there that probably should not have become Moms. Just because she said it does not mean you are unlovable.

My Granny used to say to me that "Dont tell ur boyfrend any family secrets, some things are left unsaid" i miss her terribly and i wish i could get more wisdom from her again. Hope you resting in peace, i love you gran.
