BUG FLAVOR!!! A HORROR STORY!!!
O.K. this is going to seem a little silly but is it appropriate to return fruit to the store? Yesterday I bought one of those clamshell containers full of strawberries. Those berries looked just beautiful peeking through the plastic container, red, yummy, little berry reminders of summer! They were also doubly exciting because I have been on a diet for the last thirty years and eating a bunch "berry love" didn't seem like too big of a sin in the diet world! Last night after everything and everyone was taken care of I decided to delve into my hidden on the top shelf of the fridge, behind the miracle whip, strawberries! I reached up quietly (with the stealth of a good spy) and brought the container down, lifted the lid, looked around the room for greedy teenagers and finally bit into one of the juicy little delights!!! I was anticipating the sweet fragrance and taste of summer in my mouth BUT NO!!! Gasp my berry had a rather odd green, earthy sort of a taste!!!!!!!! Disgusting!!! I looked at my berries in dismay as if I had been betrayed by them and was horrified to see that hiding amongst my berrries was an entire colony of nasty little wormy bugs!!!! OH MY GOD!!! How many had I ingested? I ran to the sink and frantically washed out my mouth with water!!! I went to bed completely grossed out and nauseated!!! I swear when I got up this morning I still had the "Bug Flavor" in my mouth!! I am going back to the store and asking for my money back! I think I should demand extra money for the grief of eating bugs!!! O.K., for all you smart asses who are laughing at me and thinking "why didn't she just wash the berries and see the bugs"? I did wash the berries when I unpacked the groceries but I did not wear my glasses and appearently I just freshened the bugs!!! Is this what they mean when they describe fruit as going green and organic???? Well that was my tragic tale of the berries!! At the very least I think the Grocer should give me back my money and toss in a box of Tic Tacs (as I am still fixating on the "BUG FLAVOR")! As with all cautionary tales this one comes with a moral: share your special treats with your greedy teenage sons first! It is the right thing to do and also they are younger, stronger and less likely to be so grossed out by the bugs (just kidding!!!)
