This is a pretty simple question but I need help from all the Moms who have mothered six year olds before me. I have a lot of parenting books that have book answers (probably designed for book children, made of paper) but what I need is the answer that will make my daughter happy and not ridiculed by the other children who have their own opinions. This is the question: Is Santa real?

Alzheimer's has been on my mind a bit. It's something I've wondered and worried about over the years and something I've watched friends struggle with as their moms slipped from them.

I would really like to start doing some volunteer work but I do not know where to start. Is there a list on the web of volunteer organizations that need help. I would really like to find an organization that needs help that is close to my heart and house but I am new the the neighborhood and really don't know where to start. Any suggestions?

O.K. this is going to seem a little silly but is it appropriate to return fruit to the store? Yesterday  I bought one of those clamshell containers full of strawberries. Those berries looked just beautiful peeking through the plastic container, red, yummy, little berry reminders of summer!

I remember my Mom saying "money does not grow on trees" and all the other annoying sentences she would come up with to block my requests for things (I thought I needed) but this is ridiculous!!! If my daughter does not get a pair of $200.00 jeans she will become a social out cast.

Articles in magazines, newspapers and friends are always saying find and do what makes you happy! This sounds really great but what if you just don't know? Every time I think about this question the first thing that comes to mind is a nap!!!! I don't really think sleeping is what they are talking about. I am always so busy that I rarely think about what makes me happy.

Here we are in what Pix and I affectionately like to refer to as the 'Real New Year' - a time of new beginnings. As kids and adults head back to school or return to work after summer holidays, there is a feeling of a fresh start. It's a time of year when I'm struck by how much our children have grown and reminded how quickly time flies by.

Maybe it's just me since I seem to always be heading in the opposite direction of the masses, but is there an increased passion for plastic, a sort of green whiplash?

When times are tough and you're unsure who has your back, it's always nice to know who your true friends are, but how can you tell?

Today in my email there was a litmus test for a true friend. I haven't actually verified the accuracy of this experiement, but I'm betting there's some truth to it!
