What is life like in your world lately? Really, we want to know!
Yucky Love Stuff!
Valentines Day?
Who is it really for? I think the only ones who benefit from it are Hallmark and the chocolate company's. It is an unfair occasion. If you are alone you feel sad, if you are in a relationship you feel bad if your partner forgets. The whole thing is just a set up for sadness. The only thing that is nice about Valentines are those cute kid cards they bring home from school! My son told me that "Valentines Day is a girls holiday because boys don't like that yucky love stuff"! He might be right, maybe that is what the problem is!

Oh Please! Don't tell me it took this long to figure out that men don't like Valentines day!!!! Ask any male from the age of six what they think of Valentines day and they will tell you it is the worst occasion of the year!!! I think we should just make Valentines day a day for women!! Yes, that's right we can all just give our girlfriends a card or share some chocolates with them (notice I said share, No, I am not giving anyone the whole box!) and tell our Gal Pals what we like about them and the world will be a much happier place for the "All Female Valentines Day"! Believe me the men will not object they will all be hugely relieved!

It took me a long time to come to a similar conclusion. After years of being disappointed by my husband's Valentine's Day performance stupidity I started using Valentine's Day as an excuse to tell my girl friends how much I loved having them in my life. Now every year we use the day to celebrate each other.

Valentines day is simply a set up for grief! Out side of saying exactly what you would like from your partner on this day (example: Wake up, tell me that you love me, I am special and you appreciate all the stuff I do, gift me with flowers and find a hugely sentimental card that fully expresses all the love that you have for me, now help me all day and in the evening make a dinner reservation so I don't have to cook and gaze lovingly at me through out the entire meal and then last but not least tell me to order dessert because I am looking frail!!!!! ) What are the chances of any of this happening? Lets face it you will probably be let down! Unless of course you are still in the dating mode and have not slept with your Valentine!!! (oops probably a little too much information) I agree with everybody else just make it about your girlfriends and it will be a lot more fun! Even the card company's are twigging on, I noticed all these great Valentines cards that are for friends!!

Long ago I gave up writing Christmas cards. It seemed I never got around to them in time and then Christmas had stormed through and was gone and there underneath the mayhem were my good intentions collecting dust. Every year I have a twang of guilt about it but those who know me well, know it wasn't about them.
So this year I thought I'd try something new. I'm writing my 'Christmas cards' now as Valentine's in time for Valentine's day. (Okay they might arrive a bit after but is there really a deadline for expressing love and gratitude? I think not!) This way I have more time to concentrate on telling them all the reasons why they matter and I'm hoping the cards will come as an unexpected surprise. (I'll let you know how it goes.) This might just be a tradition I can keep up!
