Your help would be greatly appreciated!!
Hi Everybody!
It is me Pixie off on another one of my missions!!! This one is the Fashionista's Ball.
I know I have been asking for everyones donations but this is a donation of a differant kind! What I would really like is your fashion or more importantly your style advice not just for younger women starting out in life but any thoughts you have on style for all women! It could just be a great piece advice someone gave you, something silly something serious even just a funny story. I am trying to put together a manual on "real womens" thoughts on a life time of fashion, shopping, style!! It would mean a lot to me if you added your thoughts to this request! (please)
This is for a really great cause,
Thanks
Pixie

The media and marketers will try to convince us to dress to attract men, but what age has shown me is women dress for women. Once you understand this truth, you can relax and take it one step further and dress for the most important woman in your life: YOU - wear what makes you happy.

Forget about trends. Forget about fashion.
Instead, focus on quality, fit and fun.

It takes the same amount of energy to put on clothes that look good on you as is does to put on ones that don't.

A good coat and a great pair of boots are a woman's best friends. Throw them over anything and look put together.

"you'll never love it as much as you do in the store" - my girls and I repeat this phrase often - it's from the movie, The Blind Side, when Leigh Anne Touhy took Michael shopping for new clothes - it saves us from buying things that will just collect dust and guilt in the closet

If you're going to spend good money, spend it on classic clothes that you will be able to use time and time again. Sure buy the trendy, fun stuff, but never spend good coin on clothes that are here today and gone tomorrow!

Never let a designer use you as a walking advertisement for their brand. Leave the logo covered items at the store.

Check that the hem of your skirt isn't tucked into your panties BEFORE you leave the house or ladies room!

No matter how pretty the shoe, if it hurts when you try it on, don't believe anyone who tells you it will get more comfortable with wear. It's a lie!

Get rid of anything in your closet that doesn't work for the woman you are today. Adorn the body you have not the one you wish you had or used to have.

Stop worrying about what other people think about what you look like. They don't care. They're too busy worrying about what you think about them!

Clothes that need ironing are over-rated

Great style can be found at any price point. It doesn't cost a fortune to look fabulous.

One time I bought a beautiful linen suit from Value Village, I paid $6.00 for the skirt and jacket. I needed to do minor alterations on it and had it dry cleaned. I wore it to work - we had this woman at work who was a slave to fashion - she only wore suits by certain designers, paid $300.00 for her designer sunglasses and unfortunately, she was very critical of those (like me) who didn't buy into this ridiculous notion. As I was walking by she said, I love your suit, it looks fabulous, you must of paid a fortune for it, where did you buy it? I looked straight into her eyes and said a French boutique called "Double V" - said both words in a French accent and walked away! Goes to show you that great fasion doesn't always have to come from expensive stores!

My favourite dress was $5.00! I've had it for 10 years and it still looks in style and in great condition. I agree, money has nothing to do with fashion.
My mom used to say, shop for quality, and then get it for the best price.

Thank you so much everybody for your excellent comments! The book has been created and will be for sale at The Fashionista's Ball for a $15.00 donation to the United Way of the Lower Mainland. I am pleased to say the book would be a perfect gift for your daughters as the advice really reflects "knowing yourself" and being a confident woman!! Thanks again you rock!
