The Olympics are just around the corner.

The Olympics are just around the corner and I was wondering how everbody feels about that? Are you excited? Annoyed? Is this a good thing ? A bad thing? What is the vibe amongst Mom's? Are you going to any events? What has the schools told your kids? Are your kids excited?

Our tax dollars will forever be mismanaged and winning the Olympic bid will be the distraction thrown at us for years to come whenever anyone asks too many questions.  So we can complain to no end or enjoy the excitement while it lasts - hopefully enough to tide us over while we're paying it off into the next generation.

Very sick of all the hype! The thing has not even started yet and I am already bored with it!

i don't know, i'm pretty excited. i remember expo in vancouver and it was fun having the crowds of tourists and the live events.

I can see the north shore mountains from my back deck and all I can think of when I think of the Olympics beginning in two weeks is how Vancouver is going to be known as the first truly 'green' winter games - in more ways than one.

i've heard they are making snow because there won't be enough - is that environmentally friendly? I don't understand why we were selected for the winter Olympics. i think we would be a better host for the summer Olympics.

Hey, on the upside, maybe we will finally dispell the myth that all of Canada is frozen tundra! I know many friends of ours south of the border who don't believe me when I say how much milder our winters are here on the West Coast.

I was down town yesterday and the mood is pretty frenzied! The Olympic count down is intense! I just hope all the people Vancouver is assuming will show up, do show up!!!! Otherwise this whole thing is pretty silly!

Just out of curiousity does any one know what happened to all the street people down town? I drove by pigeon park and it was completely empty! I know that they all didn't find homes for the Olympics so what happened to them?

All the extra security around Vancouver is kind of scary.

Anything that brings people together to celebrate something positive is OK with me! Maybe the city of Vancouver will benefit from all the positive press!

Okay, it's official. We've seen the flame up close and personal. I don't know the name of the woman who was carrying it, but she was beaming and that made it worth watching. How many others of you have had the pleasure of this Olympian event?

I can't wait to get down and see all the pavilions. The excitement is building and it would be crazy not to get in on it. Let us know what you experience and please add your hints if you have any to get the most out of the next few weeks!

Yeah Canada!

My neighbour carried the torch so we were very excited and we are looking forward to the figure skating and hockey, both favorite sports of our children. We too have our flag up and are going to watch as much as we can.

My family and I went last night to the torch relay. The feeling amongst the crowd was amazing, sheer joy! There was this huge level of pride and everyone was smiling at each other! Complete strangers stepped aside and made space so children could see, other people were talking and laughing! Was this the Olympic Spirit? If so Vancouver is going to be amazing over the next month!!!!
