The Bachelorette - Ed's Shorts - Ew

First time ever I fell under the trance of the not so real, reality show, The Bachelorette. I can't say what happened - something like a car wreck - I couldn't help but steal a peek and then another, and another.....

So many men, so little time, how to choose? The show truly is surreal. Exotic locations, a bevy of well-groomed men, a constant stream of sponsor supplied fashions. Sign me up. Heck, I'd pretend to like Jillian to travel like that for six weeks. Not a bad gig.

The show comes straight out of the oldest fairy tale in world - Kiss a lot of frogs to find the prince and live happily ever after. Stand back far enough and it's an entertaining version. They did a great job casting the frogs. I think they covered all the classic archetypes. They had Wes, a snake-like bad boy - a true narcissist who on the last date told Jillian straight out, he was number one. They had the rescuer, Jake, the perfect knight prepared to do battle to save Jillian from the evil Wes (his white horse, a jet plane - seriously could it be any better!) Then there was the Court Jester - can't remember his name - but he filled the role beautifully. They had a potential prince who was too young - I imagine Jillian contemplating the other age-old fairy tale of the aging queen sharing the throne with a man looking more like her son, but that's for another reality show. He had to go. Given the fairy tale premise, was Jillian's final pick really a big surprise? It wasn't just once she referred to Ed as 'tall, dark and handsome' I've got to give it to the girl - or maybe to the show's directors - they stayed true to the story-line on this one.

Secretly, I think Jillian picked Ed because she's a fixer - one look at his swim shorts and she must have just melted knowing here was a man who needed her. After all, her professional passion is redecorating and those shorts are a desperate cry for help. Do you think the wardrobe department did that on purpose?

I guess I don't really understand these shows (I admit I have never watched them and avoid reality t.v. like the plague). Does this poor misguided, ding bat of a women actually marry one of these men? If so, she is going to have much bigger problems than just trying to improve this guys fashion sense!!!!!!! Am I the only person that has picked up on the fact that these men are basically being paid to "entrap" this women? Will the next stage of this reality show be the televised divorce of this couple? Oh, sorry my kids have just pointed out that is already in the works with Kate and John!!!!!!! GROSS, how sick are we that we find this entertaining!
